Gem Rush

Parents' Guide

Gem Rush: what the game does to keep children safe.

What Gem Rush is

A relaxing mining game: dig for gems, cut and collect them, build a small mining town. No violence, no chat with strangers, and it plays offline.

A neutral age question

On the first start the game asks for the year of birth, with nothing pre-selected. Only the age group is kept, never the date. The game then follows the rules for that age:

Under 13

Under 16 in the EU, UK and Switzerland

Ads are never personalised.

No chat, safe names

There is no chat of any kind. Usernames are filtered, and players can report or block any name in the rankings.

Purchases

Everything is optional: the whole game can be played for free.

Purchases go only through Apple, so your family's settings apply: Ask to Buy (Family Sharing) or turning off in-app purchases in Screen Time (Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases).

Nothing you can buy is random: there are no paid loot boxes. Every pack says exactly what it contains, and the game shows the real price next to its Gold Bars.

Ads

The game shows a small banner ad at the bottom of the screen, and now and then a full-screen ad when the player heads home from the mine: never on the first day, at most every third trip. Players can also choose to watch a short video for a reward, for example to refill the lamp oil.

A one-time Remove Ads purchase ends the banner and the full-screen ads. Any ad can be reported in Settings > Privacy.

Healthy play

Short dives fit into a few minutes, and nothing is lost by stopping. Please make sure children take regular breaks. A small number of people can have seizures from flashing lights: stop playing and see a doctor if a child feels dizzy, gets a headache or has involuntary movements.

Reminders are only about the game (for example "your lamp is full") and can be turned off in the iPhone's Settings > Notifications > Gem Rush.

Data and deleting the account

We keep only what the game needs. You can delete the account and all its data at any time: in the game under Settings > Delete account, or without the game. See the Privacy Policy for details.
